This week, in partnership with the Mind the Store campaign, we released a report
card scoring major retailers across North America on their safer chemical
policies and actions to reduce exposure to toxic chemicals of concern. These
include bisphenols, phthalates, and PFAS that are often added to single-use
plastics, grease-proof containers, food cans and thermal paper receipts.
Five retail companies in Canada, Metro, Sobeys, Burger King, Popeye's and Tim Hortons , received an F grade for failing to develop public policies to address toxic
chemicals in the products or food packaging they sell.
Hundreds of potentially harmful chemicals are added to the consumer products and
packaging we use every day . Tell Metro, Sobeys, Burger King, Popeye's and Tim Hortons to protect their
customers by adopting safer chemical policies.

In the last year, many retail chains announced new or expanded safer chemical
policies. Let’s make sure Metro, Sobeys, Burger King, Popeye’s and Tim Hortons
follow suit.
Sincerely,
Muhannad Malas Program Manager, ToxicsP.S. Our work to kick out toxics is not possible without your support. Please support our campaign with a donation
