BJS seeks applications for funding for the fiscal year (FY) 2022 National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP). This program works to reduce violent crime and address gun violence by improving the accuracy, utility, and interstate accessibility of criminal-history and related records in support of national record systems and their use for name- and fingerprint-based criminal history background checks.?

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline:


* Step 1: Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov [ [link removed] ]. *Grants.gov forms are due on May 16, 2022 by 8:59 p.m. ET.*

* Step 2*:* Submit the full application including attachments in JustGrants.usdoj.gov [ [link removed] ]. *The full JustGrants application is due on May 23, 2022** by 8:59 p.m. ET.

*Actions needed associated with Unique Entity Identifiers (UEI) transition *

As part of the federal government?s transition from the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) to UEI, Grants.gov will transition to UEI at 11:59 p.m. ET on March 31, 2022. A recent JustGrants announcement [ [link removed] ] includes important information about the transition and actions that entities must take when applying for funding opportunities with a Grants.gov close date after March 31, 2022.
