John,
Today, call center workers at Maximus are striking for livable wages, paid sick leave for all, and the freedom to organize a union without interference. This includes employees of call centers that handle calls for Medicare and the ACA, making this the first-ever strike of federally contracted call center workers.
Social Security Works stands in solidarity with these workers. The federal government must give workers what they deserve in order to ensure the smooth functioning of phone services that beneficiaries have paid for.
Outsourcing critical government services to private corporations like Maximus is stealth privatization of the infrastructure that has made Social Security and Medicare so successful.
Senator Bernie Sanders nailed it:

I stand in solidarity with Maximus workers walking out of federal call centers across the country today. To my mind, we should not allow greedy corporations to privatize public services or profit from robbing workers of fair pay and benefits.
