Today is the 12th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law.
This historic piece of legislation gave over 23 million Americans access to affordable health care options and protections for hundreds of millions Americans with pre-existing conditions.
Today, hundreds of thousands of Marylanders are signed up for health plans through the ACA exchange and millions more have access to health care through Medicaid.
While the ACA has transformed health care in our country over the past 12 years, not much has changed in Washington Republicans’ attitude toward health care over the past decade. Washington Republicans still want to repeal the ACA if they take back Congress in 2022.
Every time Washington Republicans have tried to take away health care, I’ve fought back and that’s what I intend to do as long as I’m in Congress. In fact, I’m working to build on the ACA and expand access to health care even further by lowering the cost of prescription drugs and delivering critical resources to health care providers in rural and underserved communities.
