Friend —

Believe it or not, we are almost a quarter of the way through 2022. Time really flies, doesn't it? Today, I want to give you a brief update on some of the things we've been working on.

This month, Senator Sherrod Brown and I introduced the Arbitration Fairness for Consumers Act, which is much-needed legislation that will prohibit banks and other financial institutions from using forced arbitration clauses against consumers who want to seek restitution and justice.

Consumers who are ripped off by big banks or corporations should be able to seek fair redress, and I’m proud to join my colleagues in introducing legislation to protect consumer choice and ensure a more fair and transparent process for Americans seeking justice.

And just a couple of weeks ago, we passed the Omnibus Funding bill and I was pleased to secure over $104 million in direct investments for community projects all across Maryland in that legislation, which President Biden signed into law last week. These investments in our communities will help to spur opportunity, create jobs, and grow our economy.

I'm also proud that the funding bill we passed included funding to support Ukraine and reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

The substantial funds for military and humanitarian support for Ukraine show that America will not stand idly by during the vicious, unprovoked invasion by Vladimir Putin. And our long-overdue reauthorization of VAWA includes badly needed upgrades to this bedrock law that will help better protect and support survivors of domestic violence.

My top priority has always been to fight for the things that make a difference for our families, communities, state, and country, and I'm proud that our work so far this year has included many wins that people will be able to feel in their daily lives.

But it's been a busy year, and as we look ahead to November, things are only going to get busier and partisanship will likely get even more fierce.

I'm going to stay focused on fighting for progress, but that means I'll need the support of this grassroots team to make sure we're able to defend this Maryland seat and our Democratic Senate majority in this year's midterms.

That's why, before you go, I have to ask:

Could you please make a $3 contribution — or a contribution of any amount — to my campaign for re-election to the United States Senate today? Our next FEC deadline is quickly approaching, and your donation will help show the strength of this grassroots team. [[link removed]]

Thanks for being a part of our work to deliver real progress for families here in Maryland and across our country.

Onwards,

Chris
