John:
We signed a joint policy statement this week opposing yet another short-term, budget busting spending bill.
Read the statement and add your name. ([link removed])
Congress is considering a Continuing Resolution or "CR" to fund government operations only until December 20 so the big-spenders in Washington can use the Christmas holiday to pressure lawmakers into passing another omnibus spending bill with little debate.
This is no way to govern and it should be stopped!
Please join us in opposing a short-term CR and calling on conservatives to pass a straight one-year extension with no spending increases and no liberal policy riders.

Thank you for being part of our team and for doing so much to help fight for conservative policies in Washington.

Conservatives Do Not Support Another Short-Term, Budget-Busting Spending Bill
November 18, 2019
Conservatives reject attempts by Congress to pass yet another bloated, pork-filled spending bill.
Congress is currently considering a short-term Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government until December 20. This gives Democrats and big-spending Republicans leverage to use the threat of a government shutdown over the holiday as a means to pass budget-busting spending legislation with very little amendment or oversight.
This is the same Swamp playbook we see every year, and each year, it results in massive spending bills put together at the eleventh hour without any transparency, and no opportunity for Members of Congress or the public to read or amend the bill. Worse, Members of Congress are then bullied into passage to avoid getting blamed for a government shutdown.
This is irresponsible governing, and we reject attempts by Congress to follow this approach yet again.
We are particularly concerned given the number of high stakes issues on the table in this year’s spending debate: the pro-abortion language in the Senate Foreign Operations spending bill inserted by Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), as well as pending reauthorizations of the Export-Import bank, expiring tax provisions, and other matters that may be added to a giant bill at the last minute.
These issues deserve open deliberation, debate, and amendment. An attempt to jam a bloated spending bill through the Congress while up against a holiday and a government shutdown benefits no one but the Swamp.
We urge Congress to pass a straight extension of funding into the early months of 2020, or a year-long CR, both of which would give the Congress and the taxpayers ample time to review the policies at stake.
Otherwise, we urge conservatives to oppose, and the president to veto, any attempt at a short-term CR that expands the budget-busting status quo.
