Dear team,
In March of 2018, the Center for Reproductive Rights and our partners filed a case challenging Mississippi's blatantly unconstitutional ban on abortion after just 15 weeks of pregnancy. We filed this case on behalf of Jackson Women's Health Organization—our client of 20 years and the last remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi.
Almost four years later, in December of 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in our case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which presents a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade.
If the Court guts Roe in its decision in this case, nearly half of the U.S. could take action to ban abortion immediately, and clinics across the country will be forced to close. Once a clinic closes, it's nearly impossible to reopen—and people need to have access to abortion clinics in their communities.
We wanted to introduce you to the clinic staff and volunteers of Jackson Women's Health Organization so you can hear directly from them on why abortion is essential in Mississippi and beyond. Take a look at this video we put together.
You can learn more about Jackson Women's Health Organization and The Pink House Fund, which supports people accessing abortion in Mississippi, here.
Thank you for your partnership and support in this critical work. We're grateful to have you on our team.
Sincerely,
Center for Reproductive Rights
