Friend,
First, Virginia felt the blue wave sweep through our state on election night when we elected a Democratic majority in both chambers of the General Assembly. Now, the Richmond City Council approved Mayor Stoney’s proposal to impose mandatory reporting for stolen firearms to keep them off our streets.
This is a huge victory for Richmond -- last year alone, hundreds of illegal firearms were seized by the police. This mandatory reporting ordinance will reduce gun violence, keep our families and communities safe, and make Richmond a better city for everyone.
But the work doesn’t stop here: with the new Democratic majority in the General Assembly, we have the opportunity to implement gun violence prevention laws all across our state.
Mayor Stoney is ready to work with state legislators to help them follow Richmond’s example as a leader in gun violence prevention. But first, we need to reach our mid-month fundraising goal before tomorrow at MIDNIGHT. Can you chip in $5 today?

Mayor Stoney worked hard to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot earlier this month, and he’s still working hard to ensure that Richmond is a city that works for everyone. This mandatory reporting ordinance firmly cements Richmond as a shining example of how a city can tackle the gun violence epidemic -- and it’s time for the General Assembly to follow suit.
But in order to continue this critical work, we need to stay on track with our fundraising goals: and that means raising $5,500 before Wednesday, November 20 at midnight.
We’re counting on you to keep Richmond moving forward: will you help us hit our mid-month goal by pitching in $5 right now?

Team Stoney
