When I think of America, the faces of the men and women I served with come to mind.

They were from every background, nationality, and political persuasion. I served with immigrants whose commitment to our country was never questioned. All that mattered was we had each other’s backs.

We all shared the same purpose: To defend the country we love.

America is great because we draw strength from our diversity. We’re at our best when we focus on what unites us, not what divides us.

It’s no secret that extremists like Donald Trump and Lauren Boebert are trying to sow division into our country. They’re more focused on undermining our democracy than solving the issues Coloradans are facing.

We cannot let their hate win. Not now, not ever.
