Friend,

This week, my colleagues and I on the Senate Committee on the Judiciary began our confirmation hearing for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson – the first, critical step to ensuring this brilliant and historic jurist is confirmed to the bench of our nation's highest court.

When I met with Judge Jackson this month, I was so impressed by her complete commitment to fair, impartial justice. I'm excited for the American people to get to know her during this week's hearing too, and to see her genuine nature on full display. She is exactly what our country and our Supreme Court need right now.

Importantly, if confirmed, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson would be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court in its 233-year history. Her confirmation would be a long-overdue step toward ensuring our nation's highest court reflects the diversity of the country it serves.

But while I'll be doing everything I can to make sure these hearings are thoughtful, honest, and substantive, we know that some Senate Republicans are likely to attempt sideshows, stunts, and distractions.

In recent years, Mitch McConnell and the GOP caucus have shown a reckless pattern of blocking crucial nominations from both President Biden and President Obama, and we can't be caught off guard if they attempt to do the same in this critical moment.

That's why I'm asking for you to speak out today. With the future of reproductive freedoms, voting rights, gun safety, and so many more issues likely to be impacted by Supreme Court decisions, we must fight back against Republican attempts to torpedo this nomination. Please, click here to confirm where you stand on President Biden's historic nominee:

Do you support President Biden's historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court?
