Dear Friend,
School boards across the state have become an epicenter of volatile political discourse, from the debate over mask mandates at the start of the school year, to critical race theory. We’re seeing Republicans ramp up the use of divisive culture war issues to stir the pot when it comes to school board elections. That’s why we’re excited to bring together local school board members to give you the inside scoop on how these issues really affect Florida’s students. We hope you’ll check out our panel discussion, “School Boards, The Next Battleground: Mask Mandates, Critical Race Theory, and More…” during our She's the Change annual leadership conference [shesthechange2022.org] on Saturday, May 14 from 10:15 AM -11:30 AM.
This keynote panel will feature current school board members from across the state including: Lucia Baez-Geller of Miami-Dade County, Shirley Brown of Sarasota County, Tina Certain of Alachua County, Nadia Combs of Hillsborough County, and Sarah Leonardi of Broward County. We're excited to have one of Florida’s top local engagement strategists, Lisa Peth, moderating this session.
