In
Texas, the federal legal challenge to Texas's six-week abortion ban is widely considered to be over. Earlier this month, a Texas Supreme Court decision effectively ended what was left of that challenge. This means that S.B. 8 will likely remain in effect in Texas for at least several months, if not far longer.
In
Idaho, state lawmakers passed a law that would ban abortion at six weeks — becoming the first state to fully pass a law similar to Texas's six-week ban. The bill now goes to the governor's desk for his signature.
In
Florida, lawmakers recently voted in the dead of night to ban abortion at 15 weeks. The governor is expected to sign this bill into law sometime in the next few weeks.
