There's too much money, too many special interests, and too little accountability in Washington, D.C. That's why, during the 117th Congress, Derek and House Democrats are moving forward legislation that will strengthen our democracy, protect voting rights, and prevent future corruption.
Derek has always stood by the belief that if our democracy isn't working for the people, then it's not really working. He's been a champion for anti-corruption legislation like the For the People Act and the Protecting Our Democracy Act (both include bipartisan proposals Derek wrote!). And he proudly helped pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act through the House.
Now, with a slim majority in the Senate, this year is our chance to pass laws that will strengthen our democratic systems, restore our government's system of checks and balances, and strengthen accountability and transparency.
