It may be too late to stop global warming entirely, but there is still time to save millions of animals from its worst effects. Every fraction of a degree of warming we prevent is the difference between species surviving or going extinct.

John,

It’s worse than we thought. Half of all animal species are in danger of extinction if global temperatures increase by 4 degrees Celsius, according to last month's report from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The report provides a glimpse into a rapidly approaching world where a worsening global biodiversity crisis threatens more than a million species with extinction, many within the next two to three decades.

Even if we manage to halt global temperature rise at 1.5 degrees Celsius, the report found that up to 14% of land species still face a high risk of extinction. The risk increases significantly with each fraction of a degree the planet warms.

Arctic species which have evolved to live on sea ice like polar bears, seals, and penguins are especially at risk. Commonly consumed fish like sardines and herring could also face extinction as oceans warm.

That’s why the work SEEC members are doing is so critical. They’re fighting in Congress to protect our most critical wildlife from extinction. Will you show your support for their work by making a contribution today?

Polar bears are counting on us

John, it may be too late to stop global warming entirely, but there is still time to save millions of animals from its worst effects. Every fraction of a degree of warming we prevent is the difference between species surviving or going extinct.

We’ve had success before saving species facing extinction. If it wasn’t for the Endangered Species Act, we would’ve lost the humpback whale, the American alligator, the grizzly bear, and the California condor. Even the bald eagle - the symbol of our country - would be extinct today if not for the Endangered Species Act.

SEEC members in Congress are fighting to protect hundreds of endangered animals from the threat of extinction.

But they need your help, John. Will you make a contribution to support our SEEC members as they work to prevent some of Earth’s most majestic creatures from disappearing for good?

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
