John,
A few weeks ago, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida released a plan for every Republican to run on. Even Mitch McConnell admitted that the plan would “sunset Social Security and Medicare within five years.” Rick Scott isn’t up for re-election this year, but his fellow Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, is. And when Marco was asked about Rick’s plan, he said “I think it’s pretty good!”
This year, we can beat Marco Rubio and elect a Social Security champion to replace him. That’s why Social Security Works PAC’s first Senate endorsement in 2022 is Val Demings.
Can you split a donation between SSW and Val’s campaign today, and beat Marco Rubio?
Rubio’s support for Rick Scott’s plan to end Social Security and Medicare isn’t an outlier―it’s consistent with his career of support for cuts.
In 2010, Rubio first ran for Senate in favor of raising the retirement age and reducing the cost of living adjustments that help seniors keep up with inflation.
In 2016, Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign proposed cutting Social Security and privatizing Medicare.
In 2017, Rubio suggested cutting Social Security and Medicare to pay for Trump’s tax handout to the wealthy.
This is a clear throughline in Sen. Rubio’s career. We’re organizing seniors in Florida to END that career this November.
Rep. Val Demings, meanwhile, has an impeccable record defending Social Security and Medicare. In her time in the House, she’s been a reliable co-sponsor of legislation to EXPAND Social Security, not cut it. We need champions like that in the Senate!
Split a donation today between Social Security Works and Val Demings’s campaign to save Social Security from Marco Rubio!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
