Hi John,
"The United States does not have one federal election; we have thousands of town, county, and local elections, but not always happening at the same time."
That's a direct quote from our 2022 Strategic Plan -- one we wrote even before the For The People Act was blocked in the Senate. While Democrats were focused on Congress, Republicans have been focused on taking over our elections at the state and local level. It's a smart strategy, and here's why:
Election administrators, county clerks, recorders, and related offices are the ones that will determine whether or not democracy survives past 2024. Republicans know this information, and they won't back down from their mission to take over every one of these offices that they can.
Now here's what Run for Something is doing about it: We've been recruiting NON-STOP for these positions -- running ads, partnering with other organizations, and building support for folks both before and after election day. We'll ensure they're ready to do the job and handle the pushback they might experience. But first, they'll need to win.
The easiest way to help is to chip in $5 or more to ramp up recruitment and support diverse young progressives as they run for election administration roles.

The task we find ourselves with is monumental, but it is not impossible. Defending our democracy is possible only when we have strong, fair, and democracy-minded diverse election administrators. It's how we make sure everyone can vote.
Last week, NBC News published an article about 3 Black secretaries of state, who oversee more than 37 million registered voters between them. They've taken on voting system overhauls to adapt to mail-in ballots in 2020, informing parolees and formerly incarcerated people that they can vote again and creating election systems that make voting easy and painless for
everyone.
That's the difference we're trying to make, and these are the kind of election administrators we want in office at every level. Chip in $5 or more to help recruit more diverse young progressives fill these roles.
Let's protect our democracy together,
Run for Something
