The person Trump appointed to run the U.S. Post Office is still in charge
-- and causing new controversy.
He is breaking a promise made by President Biden (who campaigned on a
proposal first offered by Elizabeth Warren) to ensure any new vehicles
purchased by the federal government were electric. Instead, Postmaster
General Louis DeJoy just ordered 150,000 gas-guzzlers from a company
called Oshkosh Defense. Many get 8 miles per gallon.
The good news is we can stop Louis DeJoy. Congressman Gerry Connolly
(D-VA) has introduced a bill to stop the Postal Service from enacting its
contract with Oshkosh Defense for the trucks unless the fleet is made up
of at least 75 percent electric vehicles. The bill already has 68
co-sponsors in the U.S. House.

you strongly support blocking DeJoy’s Bad Deal! The USPS contract must
require at least 75% electric trucks.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine reaffirms that America must lead the world in
a clean energy transition. Our dependence on fossil fuel empowers
authoritarians like Vladimir Putin, rogue oil-producing nations, and
price-gouging oil companies.
Postal Service vehicles make up a third of the government’s fleet.
Continuing to power them with fossil fuels is a terrible decision.
It’s time to get every member of Congress in the House and Senate on board
and pass Congressman Connolly's bill before a single vehicle rolls off the
assembly line.
