I’ve spent my career in politics, and I am deadly serious when I say this midterm election is one of the most important elections of my lifetime. Let me tell you why. In 2020, Americans came together to build a cross-partisan coalition to defeat a dangerous president and show our collective desire for a more unifying direction for the nation. Our democracy was pushed to the brink on Jan. 6, 2021, but it held firm—to the dismay of those who wanted to overturn the will of the American people. But those extreme voices are working harder than ever to weaken faith in our institutions, spread dis- and misinformation to turn Americans against each other, and enact laws to restrict citizens from being able to execute their Constitutionally protected civic duties. If they succeed in 2022, there’s no telling what they will do going into 2024’s presidential election. That’s why I proudly joined the Advisory Board of the Renew America Movement. RAM is working hard to rebuild a common-sense coalition in Washington and fight extremism in government. They have identified a centrist group of Democrats, Republicans, and independents who are principled, pragmatic, pro-democracy candidates that embody the best of America and our ideals.
