Join CMCA as we welcome the World Famous Harlem Wizards to Jefferson City! The Wizards are a show basketball team delivering interactive fun for families while helping to raise funds for non-profits like CMCA.

 

CMCA is welcoming the Wizards to help raise awareness around the need for safe, affordable housing for families with low-income in Jefferson City. The event will also raise funds to support housing development. 

 

The event will highlight the antics of the Wizards as they take on the JCYIMBY team including local celebrities:

 

Support the JCYIMBY team & make them MVPs! 

In the spirit of friendly competition, our JCYIMBY team members are vying for special  recognition to be the game MVP. Each is trying to raise $500 to support necessary CMCA housing development initiatives in Jefferson City! Help them meet or exceed their goal by giving a small gift today! The player(s) who raise the most funds will be recognized at the game as MVPs! 

Erin Bidlack is representing Studio573 in Jefferson City. We are so happy to have her on our team! Support Erin's peer-to-peer campaign to raise $500 and help her become the MVP of the game

Sarah Bohl is representing Jefferson City Magazine, Dogwood Social, & Campus Co-working Space in Jefferson City. Sarah says,

"I am excited to take part in this event in order to help CMCA raise funds to help broaden the efforts to continue improving the quality of life for our community."

Missy Creed McFerron is representing Jefferson City Magazine, Dogwood Social, & Campus Co-working Space. She says, "As a board member for the JC Schools Foundation, this is a fun way to further help our students and raise awareness for ways our community can give back."

Edwin Cooper is representing the Missouri Department of Mental Health, the Homeless Task Force, and PHC. Edwin is a Number #1 Pittsburg Steelers Fan, and says, "I am excited to take part in this event to raise awareness for the need for affordable housing and money for affordable housing"

Kenton Gewecke is the Chief Meteorologist at KOMU 8 News.

He is passionate about reporting on the weather and climate because it can help to prevent human suffering. He says, "I believe everyone, no matter their job, should be able to find an affordable, safe place to call home. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. I am proud to be a part of this fundraiser and I look forward to playing on the JCYIMBY team!"

Carlos Graham is representing Lincoln University. He and his wife Shalonda have 2 daughters (Tiara and Emmarie) and one grandson (Kip III). He says, "Affordable housing is important to the economic vitality of our (any) community. A healthy mix of housing options ensures opportunities for all residents of our (any) community to improve their economic situations and also allows them to contribute to the community."

Joey O'Conner is representing Mid-Rivers Insurance Group. We are excited to have Joey on our team!

Jose' Ramos is representing Cricket Wireless. Family is very important to Jose', and his family motivates him to do his best. He says, "I'm excited to be a part of JCYIMBY and support affordable housing because I'm always looking for opportunities to help. My parents helped house most of my family growing up because we didn't have these resources available to us. Now that I'm in a position to help I want to guide people with language barriers to find and utilize these resources."

Rachel Senzee is representing the City of Jefferson where she is the Neighborhood Services Supervisor. She says, "I am excited to be on the JC-YIMBY team because I believe in raising awareness about the need for affordable housing in this community. Healthy neighborhoods are established by nurturing well-balanced environments for families to live, work, and play throughout every stage of life. This includes young people just entering the workforce to senior persons wanting to age in place. Approximately 43% of Jeffersonians qualify for affordable housing."

Bobby Showers is a musician from Jefferson City and is also known as MC Robbie Rain for the band DAS. He says, "I'm excited to be on the JCYIMBY team and to support affordable housing in our community. Because reliable, and affordable housing is essential to building a better community!

Dr. Serese Smith-Haxton is playing for our Half-Court Sponsor Capital Region Medical Center! We are excited to have her on our team!

Judge Cotton Walker is a members of the CMCA Board of Directors. He says, "I'm looking forward to getting out of court and on to the COURT! It will be a great evening with the World Famous Harlem Wizards! As a community leader, I appreciate the Wizards and Central Missouri Community Action highlighting our efforts to support affordable housing in Jefferson City. Affordable, safe, and stable housing in our area translates to a healthy and safe community for all of us."

Joseph Gorman is representing West Elementary School. He says, "I am beyond proud of what West Elementary is doing for our students. I can not express enough how encouraging it is to see so many great students and educators on a daily basis. I am also excited to be on the JCYIMBY team as I feel this is a great cause that can positively impact numerous people within our community. I am a huge proponent of creating fair opportunities for all of our JCSD family and will always do my best to help support this."

Jesse Oswald is representing Belair Elementary School. He says, "Everyone deserves to have all of their basic needs met, including affordable housing for our low-income families. Although there are many factors of a strong community -quality, and affordable housing is a key element."

Emily Roberts is representing Lewis & Clark Middle School. When not playing basketball, Mrs. Roberts can be found on stage at Capital City Productions. She says, "I’m excited to showcase my amazing basketball skills while helping raise funds for our community. My cousin played in the NBA so I’m sure his basketball skills are genetic!"
