I was recently reading the words of one of the children in the care of Love146 and had a stunning moment. She said: “I still have fight left in me. I’m not ready to give up”

I think sometimes people mistakenly think that we as a human rights organization are doing the fighting for children. Or that donors, or legislators, or law enforcement are fighting for children. But in the 17 years that I’ve been involved in this work, if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that children do the lion’s share of the fighting.

Children who’ve experienced trafficking or exploitation face what seems like insurmountable odds. But they have fight in them. In fact, they are fierce when it comes to not only taking their childhoods back, but fighting for a future.

Most of the time all they need is a chance. Someone to crack open a door when all other doors seem to be shut. They will fight to find that opening, and fight to storm through it. What we do, and what you do through your generosity, is give them a fighting chance.

At 9 years old, Gabi* was being abused in front of a webcam. It was a heartbreaking reality, and the odds were stacked against her. She came to Love146, and your support meant she had a fighting chance… and wow did she take it. She enrolled in an alternative school to catch up. She continued working through immense trauma. She went on a hike for the first time in her life. She participated in her perpetrators being brought to justice. She fought for a different future… and you’ve been a part of supporting her in that fight ever since. Today, she’s about to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems… and dreams to go back and get a Masters of Social Work. I wish you could see her smile (full of braces).

The children we work with have been through so much in their short lives that it can be hard for them to imagine anything different. But this past doesn’t have to define them. We want them to understand that most of their life still lies ahead, and they have so much potential.
I’m writing because your gifts make a significant impact in the lives of children in our care. Would you support our work this holiday season and give another child a fighting chance?
GIVE TODAY
These children, like Gabi, are fighters. And you’re part of giving them a fighting chance. In doing so, you give them an opportunity to not only beat the odds, but to fight for a future that defies their past.
Your gift gives a child affected by trafficking a fighting chance.
GIVE TODAY
Founded in 2002, Love146 is working to end child trafficking and exploitation through survivor care and prevention. Our programs in The US, the UK, the Philippines and parts of Africa have reached over 55,000 children. The trafficking and exploitation of children is one of the darkest stories and most severe human rights abuses imaginable. But for many, the hope of ending it is a reality. Love146 is helping grow the movement to end child trafficking while providing effective, thoughtful solutions. We believe in the power of love and its ability to effect sustainable change. Love is the foundation of our motivation.
