Friends -

I have a few minutes to spare this morning so I wanted to send you a quick note. Believe me, this time is a luxury, but this is an important message so I hope you’ll take the time to read it.

The truth is, people like me don’t often make it to Congress.

I’m the son of Latino immigrants who, with my three sisters, was raised by my single mother. I was the first in my family to attend college, Harvard of all places, and instead of taking the traditional Ivy League path, I joined the Marine Corps and went to Iraq.

When I first thought about running for Congress, I am not sure many people gave me too much of a chance. But we ran a grassroots campaign and won.

Ever since, I’ve fought for people who grew up like me — the underdogs, the ones people normally count out — and consider it an honor of a lifetime that it’s something I get to do every day.

But I could have never gotten there alone. No one gets to Congress alone. Especially people who grew up like I did.

That means from time to time I have to ask for help. It’s not easy, but it’s something I have to do. So please:

Can you please make a $3 contribution — or whatever you can afford — to my re-election campaign for Congress in Arizona? I would not ask if this were not so important.

CONTRIBUTE $3[[link removed]]

Thank you,

Ruben
