John,
With every single seat in the Minnesota Legislature up for election because of redistricting, we’ve been hard at work preparing for the new legislative maps. And last month, those new maps were released.
But then, the Star Tribune published this headline:

When the Minnesota Women’s Campaign Fund was started, only 14% of Minnesota legislators were women. Today, 24% of Minnesota legislators are pro-choice women. This progress is important and we have seen it right here at Women Winning:
*In the last 6 years, Women Winning has heard from nearly 1,000 women interested in our robust training opportunities and support.
*Pro-choice women increased representation in the Minnesota Senate by 40% in 2020.
*Commissioners Angela Conley and Irene Fernando became the first persons of color elected to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners in 2018.
*Senator Mary Kunesh became the first Indigenous woman elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2020.
*Mayor Amáda Márquez Simula became the first person of color elected Mayor of Columbia Heights in 2020 (and second Latina mayor in Minnesota history!).
We are not letting redistricting threaten our progress. In 2012, redistricting was particularly hard on women in the Minnesota Legislature. So as soon as the new maps were released this year, our team was prepared and was on the phone recruiting women to run for office.
The increased representation over the last several decades and our ability to connect with so many women interested in running for office has come as a direct result of support from advocates like you. So today, will you recommit your support by giving $10 to elect pro-choice women? Together, we can continue the progress we have been working towards. [[link removed]]
With increased attacks on reproductive healthcare and a pending decision on abortion rights from the Supreme Court, there has never been a more important time to elect pro-choice majorities in Minnesota. That’s why we need your support. The work in 2022 is our most important yet, electing pro-choice women across the entire state to protect abortion rights for generations to come.
Donate $10 today to help Women Winning keep this important work going. [[link removed]]
Thank you for your dedication to pro-choice women’s leadership. Your energy and commitment to electing pro-choice women across Minnesota directly helps elect the government we need and deserve.
