Soft on Crime? Here’s Jackson’s Record on Sex Offenders and Other Criminals - Jackson’s record reveals a deeply troubling pattern of ruling regardless of the facts, the law, or the Constitution, raising questions about her ability to be fair and impartial. Americans should be alarmed that, as a district court judge, Jackson sentenced virtually every child sex offender to a sentence below the recommended range and argued for years that child sex offenders are treated too harshly. In at least one high-profile case, Jackson stretched the law—and was overturned—to prevent the Trump administration from enforcing U.S. immigration laws. In lectures and speeches, Jackson has complimented advocates of critical race theory and focused on divisive concepts like racial preferences and forced equity. Americans deserve a judge who will follow and uphold the law, but Judge Jackson’s concerning record on crime, immigration, and other issues indicates she will undermine the law to benefit special interests. Putin does his best Stalin in threat to ‘cleanse’ - Vladimir Putin this week called for the "purification" of the motherland, urging his fellow Russians to spit out like gnats those who dare oppose him. If Putin’s war crimes against the Ukrainian people were not enough, this chilling speech should convince his remaining fans to look elsewhere for a savior. His outburst has demonstrated to many that his invasion of the much-smaller neighbor may not be going as well for him on the battlefield as he had planned, as a united Ukraine rises to rebuff the invading Russians. The world must turn from Putin now, no matter what he does from this point on, even if he abandons Ukraine immediately and lets all the nations he has invaded since coming to power—Georgia, Moldova, and of course, Ukraine—live in peace. We know from the experience that appeasement begets only more global carnage. Heritage Expert: Mike Gonzalez
In a New Kind of War, the Old Wars of Ideas are Back - The West is in a two-front ideological war from within and without. One is a physical struggle, a new kind of war against the likes of Russia, China and Iran. We must defend not just our territory, but our economies, supply chains, and infrastructure from their malicious and malevolent designs. That starts with rebuilding our military, striving for energy independence, freeing the free world from economic exploitation by Communist China, and checkmating China’s efforts to overtake and corrupt international organizations. In short, we can’t win without being proactive and securing our freedom, safety, and prosperity. The second war is one of ideas. To prevail in this fight will require a common moral and ethical compass. That won’t come from compromising in the center. The right and left sides of the political spectrum are not equipoised. The modern left has been sucked far toward its extreme Marxist flank, like a planet swallowed by a black hole. The left must wake up. They are on the wrong side of history—again. When it comes to the threat they pose to freedom, Communists and fascists are a distinction without a difference. Heritage Expert: James Carafano
Paying the price for Joe Biden’s policy - A capable presidential administration plans, anticipates, and implements strategies. An ineffective administration bounces haphazardly from crisis to crisis. It’s the difference between playing chess and playing pinball. Joe Biden’s mismanagement of skyrocketing gas prices gives us a hint as to what game he’s playing. Gas prices, already high and rising due to supply-chain problems and inflation, skyrocketed when Biden announced a ban on US imports of Russian oil. Before making that announcement, a capable administration would have started getting government out of the way of domestic energy producers and opening access to our vast oil and gas resources on public lands. Instead, Biden’s administration has made it more difficult for America to produce and sell energy. Rather than clear the way for American energy producers. Heritage Expert: GianCarlo Canaparo
The fight for free universal school meals - Lawmakers should not permanently expand the eligibility of these flawed federal meal systems. Expanding eligibility for an error-prone, wasteful set of services does not help the children in need that the meals were originally intended to serve. Nor does this expansion demonstrate to taxpayers, families, and students that lawmakers are aware of a program’s inefficiencies and are attempting to make this service more effective at helping students most in need of help. Expanding eligibility for school meals will not help more children with financial needs—they are already eligible. Neither will universal eligibility solve the meal programs’ inefficiencies and waste. Heritage Expert: Jonathan Butcher
This Mom Says Transgender Movement Took Her Daughter’s Life - “I want them to explore what’s going on. Why [are children] acting the way that they are? Why [are they] feeling … the way that they feel? I want them to … be aware of the mental care. They don’t talk about it,” Martinez said, referring to Children and Family Services and her daughter’s public school. “There is a lot of kids who are committing suicide. The system offers them that they will pay for anything, hormones, any surgery that they need. I wish the system, instead of spending millions of dollars on these kids, having them in foster care, [would instead] support us as a parent and give us the tools that we need,” Yaeli’s mother said. Instead, she said, what exists is a “broken system that is destroying our family.” Heritage Expert: Jay Richards
DC’s David Outlasts Goliath: Big Board Pub Can Reopen, Serve Liquor Again - The renewal of his liquor license, combined with the reinstatement of The Big Board’s operating license on March 1, means that Flannery is no longer barred from opening his doors to customers in the near future. The Big Board was the only restaurant forced to close its doors during Bowser’s month long experiment in tyranny. That was because Flannery was the only business owner who openly and boldly defied the mandate. It’s not hard to imagine a world where Flannery was like one of the many D.C. business owners who grudgingly or otherwise accepted the mandate. In that scenario, the D.C. government might well have pushed forward in forcing residents to hand over their personal medical information to engage in everyday life. But Flannery didn’t. And his victory proves that when we stand up to tyranny, we can win. Heritage Expert: Douglas Blair
