John — For six years, thousands of survivors, advocates, volunteers, and legislative champions have worked tirelessly to enact commonsense, evidence-based restrictions on extraordinarily deadly high-capacity magazines. Lawmakers finally took action this month to keep these weapons of war out of our communities. As we anxiously wait for Governor Inslee to sign the bill into law, a new, last-ditch effort by our opponents threatens to undo all that progress.
DEFEND HCM RESTRICTIONS:

We just got news that our opponents have officially filed a referendum attempting to overturn the newly-passed law restricting high-capacity magazines. Washington’s referendum process allows voters to file a referendum to reject laws passed by the legislature. The referendum petition must be signed by a portion of state voters before it makes it on the ballot.
This campaign shows how serious our opponents are about fighting this measure. They refuse to accept defeat and are determined to try any and every tactic they can to undo these commonsense restrictions.
We know that a vast majority of Washingtonians support this policy, but if this ends up going to the ballot, we will need to spend a small fortune to combat our opponents misinformation campaign. Can you help us match the intensity and deep pockets of our opponents? Please, contribute $5 today to help us defend high-capacity magazine restrictions and save lives in Washington.
