Dear John,

You have ONE WEEK to register to vote.

If you’re a British citizen living overseas, you will want a proxy vote.

But to get a proxy vote, you first need to get on the register.

If you’re not registered already, you can do it quickly and simply right now.

All you need is five minutes and a National Insurance number. You will need an address in the UK that you have lived at within the last fifteen years.

You can apply for a postal vote if you live abroad, but it’s very risky. You might not get your ballot paper in time for you to send it back to the UK for 12th December.

So if you can, nominate someone you trust to vote on your behalf. The person you choose must be able to vote in this election, so they must be registered.

They also need to be able to go to your polling station. That’s important.

Once you’ve registered, the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 4th December.

Just fill out the form, and you can be sure you can participate in such an important election.

As an overseas citizen, Brexit will affect your relationship with the UK. Don’t let your voice go unheard. Make sure you have your vote.

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell
