Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee began hearings on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
This is an important moment for the American people to hear directly from Judge Jackson on what she will bring to the Supreme Court, and she deserves a fair hearing that treats her and the process with the respect they deserve.
Judge Jackson is eminently qualified and would provide an important voice on the Court.
As the former Chief Justice of North Carolina's Supreme Court, Cheri firmly believes that our Supreme Court — like all institutions — must reflect the diversity of our nation.
It is clear that some Washington Republicans want to turn this into a divisive, partisan battle that has nothing to do with the merits of Judge Jackson’s nomination. But we must demand that Judge Jackson receive fair consideration from every U.S. Senator as the hearings begin.
This historic moment is long overdue, and we know it will inspire so many across our country.
