This month, Florida Republicans passed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – a proposed law that would ban all discussion of LGBTQ+ issues, history, people, and more in the classroom.
Let’s be clear: This a direct attack on our LGBTQ+ youth, who already face higher risks of bullying and suicide. This bill is anti-history and jeopardizes the safe learning environments that are so essential in our schools.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Gov. DeSantis and his allies in the Florida Legislature have attacked the LGBTQ+ community.
On the first day of Pride Month 2021, the governor signed an anti-transgender bill. It was abhorrent then, and it’s abhorrent now.
