You know, I still remember this photo being taken, John.

Mi familia. The four of us. As a little girl in Colombia, when I saw my dad hop into that airplane and take off; I can’t describe the feeling. To me, he was a hero.

As a U.S. Air Force pilot, he flew planes over Europe during World War II. He gave me my fighting spirit and taught me to never give up. Now, I’m asking you to join me in my fight for a Florida that works for everyone. Can I count on you?

Before I go any further, let me introduce myself: My name is Annette Taddeo.

I’m a mom to a daughter in public school, a State Senator from Miami-Dade, and a Candidate for Governor against Ron DeSantis.

I was raised in Colombia, but had to flee after my family’s farm was attacked by a Marxist terrorist group funded by the Castro regime.

After arriving in the States, I worked my way through university and built a business, LanguageSpeak, which is now recognized as one of the top small businesses in Florida. I currently represent a Trump +6 district, a seat I won in 2017, becoming the first Latina Democrat ever elected to Florida’s State Senate, and the first Latina Jew in the Florida Legislature.

This is my family today, John. That’s Eric, my husband, our daughter Sofia, and our two poodles, Mocha and Snow.

Every day, I look at the life I’ve built here in Florida, and I can’t help but believe in the American Dream. And more than anything, I wish more Floridians could believe it was out there for them as well.

Under Ron DeSantis, this is not the case.

Florida has become a breeding ground for hatred and bigotry. The recent passage of a series of horrible anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ+, and anti-immigration bills, is just a preview of what DeSantis has planned for my state.

We have got to get him out of the Governor’s Mansion.

Through grassroots organization and small-dollar contributions, I believe we can build a campaign from the ground up powerful enough to take on DeSantis’ network of Dark Money SuperPACs and Special Interest Groups.

When I was a little girl in Colombia, I never dreamed I would be here. But here I am — a Candidate for Governor of Florida — and I’m asking for your help, John.
