The King's Chronicle: March 21, 2022
Hi Team,
March has been an incredible month for our campaign so far. John and Michelle wrapped up their Promise to Progress Tour yesterday, after visiting 14 cities in 12 counties, with 8 meet and greets and 21 stops on their Maryland tour!
We hope you'll keep reading to learn more about the tour and check out our latest news updates, event recaps, and ways to get involved with the campaign. And as always, thank you for your continued support of John and Michelle — grassroots support is the momentum that fuels all that we do!
One more thing we want to mention — Maryland just pushed the primary date to July 19th. That means our campaign needs to boost our fundraising numbers so we can continue competing those extra 3 weeks. If you are able, can you give to our Primary Election Fund to help us get more TV ads up, pay our staff, and increase John and Michelle’s transportation budget?

Thank you for all of your support!
Onward,
Team King
Team King Updates
FORUM FANATICS : Recently, John participated in a series of statewide gubernatorial forums where he shared his bold policy positions and vision to lead our state toward a more just future. From the Maryland Democratic Party transit forum in Frederick to the League of Conservation Voters and NAACP climate forums in College Park and Towson, John made it clear that our next governor must do more than talk the talk, but actually walk the walk when it comes to enacting real, positive change. At the first climate forum on March 8th, John ended the night with an incredibly powerful speech proving that no other candidate in this race has the vision, plan, or commitment to take aggressive action on climate change now, before it's too late. WE PROMISED, WE PROGRESSED : After a month on the road meeting with Marylanders in every corner of the state, John, Michelle, and the team just wrapped up our incredible statewide Promise to Progress Tour. The month-long tour ended on the Eastern Shore with events in Easton and Salisbury, but we aren’t slowing down anytime soon — John and Michelle are already looking forward to the next chance to travel across the state again!

GOING VIRAL : Last week, John made a big splash online when folks on Twitter learned John is the first and only Secretary of Education to call for the unilateral cancellation of student debt. The outpouring of support from all across the country was truly humbling and we are excited to welcome so many new supporters to Team King as we continue to fight for progressive issues that give everyone a seat at the table of opportunity.

MARYLAND MATTERS: John King: Our Schools Are Critical to the Fight Against Climate Change
“As the father of two daughters who will see these devastating impacts in their lifetimes, I worry about the future we will be sending our children into if we fail to take clear, purposeful action. However, I am also hopeful that we can still slow the effects of climate change and mitigate the most serious threats it poses.”

BUSINESS INSIDER: Canceling $50,000 in student debt 'makes a lot of sense,' Obama's Education secretary says — and 'the authority is there' for Biden to carry that out
“Former President Barack Obama's Education secretary recently became the first with that title to call for broad student-debt cancellation. And he thinks President Joe Biden can shoot higher than the $10,000 in loan forgiveness per borrower that he pledged on the campaign trail.”
