| | | | | | I Was A Red Panda, Too | | When writer Vanessa Kroll Bennett turned on Pixar’s latest, Turning Red, the main character’s struggles immediately took her back to her own childhood: “Long before puberty, my big feelings — hurt, anger, frustration — resisted containment.” It didn’t make her easy to parent, she admits, but that doesn’t mean those big feelings were something bad that ought to be shoved down, either. “We want our kids to be able to talk about how they feel, even if it’s uncomfortable for the people who love them. We want our girls to trust us, their adults, to be able to handle the strength of their feelings,” she writes, offering up advice for approaching the red panda in your house.
