This month, I voted No on legislation containing massive defense spending.
This is another increase in military spending after Congress increased the
excessive, bloated Pentagon budget to $768,000,000,000 just a few months
ago.
That’s even more than Trump’s last defense budget. It’s a giveaway to
defense corporations. And it’s just wrong.
This ever-increasing military spending continues despite significant
waste, fraud, and abuse. That funding can and should be repurposed for our
communities instead of being dumped into the profits of a small number of
private defense contractors. I will continue to fight to reduce our
Pentagon spending and instead redirect that money to working people,
parents, and communities across our country.

advocacy for less wasteful defense spending and more funding for our
communities? This is a fundamental issue in how Congress allocates money,
and we need to change it.

Part of undoing the damage Trump did in office is spending our energy and
federal dollars battling climate change, strengthening the social safety
net, and expanding health care. Congress should not be wasting money on
military bloat when we need to fund programs in pursuit of economic,
social, racial, and environmental justice.
It’s why I’ve consistently championed a 10 percent cut to military
spending. It’s why I continue fighting so hard to invest in health care,
education, paid leave, housing, the fight against climate change, and so
much more.

planet with a $3 contribution to my campaign today. We must
ensure Congress is working for the people, not defense corporations.
In solidarity,
Pramila
