Bipartisan legislation backed by the Badger Institute has been signed into law. Badger Institute Applauds Bipartisan License Reform Bipartisan licensure reform legislation backed by the Badger Institute has been signed into law. Senate Bill 344, authored by Senator Dale Kooyenga and Representative Cody Horlacher, reduces hurdles for the scope of practice of interior designers. The Badger Institute registered in favor of SB 344 as the bill eliminates the requirement that interior design plans get the approval stamp from an architect. Obtaining these stamps adds both costs and time to projects. As interior designers were already prohibited from making structural changes to buildings, this requirement did not provide value with those additional costs. The bill brings Wisconsin in line with national industry standards for licensure, removing unnecessary barriers to entry into the field. The Badger Institute continues its work on streamlining the licensure process to enhance competitive markets in Wisconsin and make it easier to work.
