Team, it’s clear we must do more to safeguard our democracy and protect equal access at the ballot box. But Trump’s Republicans in Congress will stop at nothing to keep us from trying.

Democrats have fought tooth and nail to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, but the GOP has blocked these efforts every single time. We have to ask, team, what are they so afraid of? Why is the GOP so scared of the full power of American voters?

The answer is clear: they can only win by cheating, so it is in their interest to make sure the rules stay rigged against disabled voters, voters of color, and working class voters.

Team, this year’s midterms are about so much more than just holding the House: our democracy is at stake. State-level changes to election procedures, undemocratic redistricting, and Republicans’ refusal to acknowledge the danger posed by domestic terrorists on January 6 are clear signs that our democracy will not survive if the GOP is in charge.
