1 in 7!

It’s official — fewer kids are hungry!

According to the latest data from the US Department of Agriculture, we now estimate that 1 in 7 kids lives with hunger in our country. Last year, the statistic was 1 in 6.

What does that mean?

It means there are two million fewer children who live with uncertainty about where their next meal will come from. It’s a huge accomplishment, and it’s the work of many hands, including your own.

While our work is far from finished, it validates our belief that this is a solvable problem. Thanks a million for all you’ve done to end childhood hunger once and for all.

This is what progress looks like

Our Executive Chairman, Billy Shore, recently sent a note to our staff. He writes of a beautiful moment at a No Kid Hungry dinner in Los Angeles in which it really struck home that our movement to end childhood hunger is winning. It’s a moment worth sharing.

Billy has asked us to share it more widely, including with you.

Good Housekeeping Humanitarian Seal

No Kid Hungry receives Good Housekeeping Humanitarian Seal

We're thrilled and humbled to announce No Kid Hungry has been granted the Good Housekeeping Humanitarian Seal, a charitable extension of the famous Good Housekeeping Seal. No Kid Hungry is only the second nonprofit to receive this honor.

Since its launch in 1909, the Good Housekeeping Seal has served as a symbol of trust and reliability for consumer product goods and services. The Good Housekeeping Humanitarian Seal was developed to give consumers confidence when selecting reputable charitable organizations to support.

We consider every donor to be a full partner in our work. And that comes with a responsibility to spend every donated dollar wisely. The Seal is a reminder of our promise to you. And our gratitude!

A billion meals for hungry kids!

Last month, Discovery and No Kid Hungry launched a new initiative to provide 1 billion more meals to kids in need over the next 5 years.

The campaign, called Turn Up, is an exciting new effort to end childhood hunger through donations, activism and advocacy. Keep an eye out for the Turn Up campaign on channels like Food Network, HGTV, TLC, and more. Help stick a fork in hunger and keep an eye out for the campaign when you’re watching Discovery Network shows!
