Dear John,

Everyone deserves to live in safety and peace. But two years ago today, under President Trump, a policy called Title 42 was enacted. Its stated purpose was to stop the spread of COVID-19 at the U.S.-Mexico border. But it was adopted against the advice of public health experts who found there was no public health justification for it. What did it do? Stop immigrants from seeking safety in the U.S.

Tell President Biden: Restore the right to claim asylum! [link removed]

The Biden administration has made many changes to the immigration system. But the right to claim asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border still needs to be restored. Over the last two years, hundreds of thousands of people, including children, have been deported back to dangerous conditions.

The Biden administration has also expanded the harmful "Remain in Mexico" program (also known as the Migrant Protection Protocols, or MPP). This forces migrants to wait out their asylum proceedings on the Mexican side of the border. Today, thousands of migrants are stranded in makeshift camps and other unsanitary conditions. They lack access to adequate support or legal services. And they face high rates of kidnappings and violence.

Tell President Biden: Reopen our borders to asylum seekers and ensure that they can seek safety in the United States! [link removed]

It’s time to end Title 42 expulsions and stop the expansion of the "Remain in Mexico" program. We need to protect the health, safety, and human rights of all who seek refuge at the southern border.

In peace,
