I’ve seen what war looks like. What’s going on in Ukraine right now is not just war.
I’ll get into why later in this email, but before I do, my team and I started a petition to help persuade my colleagues in Washington to actually take action when hundreds of innocent Ukrainian civilians are being slaughtered - can I count on you to sign below?
Back in 2010, when I was serving as a bomb technician in Afghanistan, I saw what war looked like first-hand.
When a Taliban IED detonated directly beneath me - and I sustained catastrophic injuries that cost me both legs and nearly my life - THAT is what the cold reality of war truly is.
But there’s a big difference between that and what we’re seeing unfold in Ukraine right now…
I was serving as a soldier who was prepared to give his life for his country. The people who are being detonated in the streets of Mariupol are innocent, unarmed civilians trying to flee a war zone.
When innocent people are slaughtered on a massive scale like this, , it’s not war. It’s genocide.
And, it’s happening right now under Joe Biden’s watch.
Yet, instead of giving President Zelenskyy the support he’s asking for to stop his people from being killed, Joe Biden is instead preoccupied striking oil deals with dictators.
It’s despicable, and it’s times like these when we need a majority in Congress that will push for accountability.
