Hi John - Twitter has announced it's banning political ads to help stop the spread of misleading information. [1] But the new policy does absolutely nothing to stop oil companies using adverts to try and deceive the public.
Right now, oil companies like BP are bombarding the public with ads, trying to convince us they're not the climate wreckers we know they are. At the same time, they're out there digging up new oil and gas, and digging us all deeper into the climate emergency. It's an absolute scandal that advertisers are still giving them this platform for deception.

BP is currently running its biggest ad campaign in over a decade.[2] They've got billboards, magazine ads, tv ads, online ads - the lot.
These ads are greenwash, pure and simple. They make BP look like a renewable energy company when in reality 97% of their business is about digging up fossil fuels.
Oil companies like BP are running these ads because they're worried. They've seen the people out on the street demanding radical climate action, and they know their days drilling for oil and gas are numbered.
But they're fighting like hell to protect their dirty business for as long as possible - and advertising is a key part of their strategy. Let's make sure it doesn't work. Let's get rid of all oil and gas advertising for good.

Thanks, John. Here's to a world without oil companies!
