Second anniversary of first lockdown marked with events and activities
memorial
This Wednesday is the second anniversary of the first Covid lockdown, since when we have had to make big adjustments and sacrifices in our lives ? and devastatingly, almost 1,000 in Nottingham have died. Nobody imagined then that the pandemic would last so long or could predict the huge changes it forced us to make locally and across the world.
We plan to remember those who lost their lives in Nottingham, and to reflect on the impact Covid has had on us all, with an event on Thursday at The Forest Recreation Ground to dedicate a Covid Memorial Tree. Local school children will sow Forget-Me-Not seeds, which we will also be giving away free at libraries and other council buildings. There will also be 1,000 trees planted across the city over the coming weeks and months to represent the Nottingham residents who died during the pandemic and a Covid Memorial Garden created in Bulwell Forest. Remembrance activities will conclude with a public memorial service on the steps of the Council House on Saturday 2 April.
As well as looking back, we must remember that Covid is still with us, so if we are to ensure the death toll doesn?t continue to rise, we should all continue to take the sensible precautions we have become used to over the last two years.

Easter activity clubs
easter
Parents and carers are now able to book activity clubs for their children over the Easter holidays. These are open to all pupils who receive free school meals (FSM), but some additional places are available on a first-come-first-served basis. The council has teamed up with Nottingham Forest Community Trust as its lead partner on the project.
The clubs are alongside further support in the form of ?15 weekly supermarket vouchers for FSM pupils, which will automatically be issued ahead of schools breaking up next week.
