We take the opportunity to provide in-depth local journalism seriously, and we want to be here for the long term. Unfortunately, the desire to support accountability and get residents the information they need isn’t always enough ([link removed]) . We’ve seen many newsrooms like ours who did important work, but were forced to close up shop because they couldn’t raise enough financial resources to keep going.

We’re being nimble to keep our costs in check. We make sure there’s no filler in our budget and we use our resources as wisely as possible. But we’ve learned that the best way to keep on solid financial footing is to be able to predict as much as possible of our revenue from month to month. That’s why recurring gifts are so powerful — they allow us to plan our work. They can be key to knowing we have the resources to take on a complicated story.

Right now, we have a goal of reaching 50 new recurring donors by the end of the month, and when you start a monthly gift, your first month’s gift will be double-matched.
