John,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Elise, and I’m the Minnesota DFL’s Fall 2019 Finance Intern, helping to orchestrate the Party’s fundraising efforts through the end of the year.

I am a senior at the University of Minnesota studying political science and business law (GO GOPHERS!!). After I graduate in May, my goal is to join a Democratic campaign full-time through Election Day.

Eventually, I want to go to law school, but the 2020 elections in Minnesota will shape our country for decades, and I want to do my part to make a difference. It’s going to take a historic grassroots movement to hold the line against the record-breaking sums of money the Trump campaign will be pouring into our state next year.

I can tell you first-hand the entire DFL team is working incredibly hard to get the job done, and this week is our Party’s best opportunity before the holidays to stay on pace to reach the critical end of year budget targets they need to keep it up.

We need to raise $5,000 by Friday to stay on track. I looked into the numbers myself this morning and we still have $3,891 to go. Will you make a contribution of $10, $20, $35 or more today to help us make up the difference?

I am so thankful to have this internship, where I get to work for an organization that’s fighting every day for the values I hold dear: protecting women’s reproductive rights, preventing gun violence, expanding access to health care, and so much more.

It’s so important to make sure our Party has the resources they need to keep fighting, especially as we head into 2020. They have a historic plan to defend our House DFL Majority, re-elect Senator Smith, send a full DFL congressional delegation to Washington, take back the Minnesota State Senate, and ensure Minnesota stays blue in the Presidential Election.
