John,
As you drive west of popular Glacier National Park, just 45 minutes from the Kalispell airport, the crowds thin, the traffic lightens. The horizon widens.
This is Montana as it was meant to be. Montana as it still can be—if Trust for Public Land can act quickly to protect 114,000 acres of land through the Montana Great Outdoors Project.
But we can’t move forward without your help today. That’s why we hope you’ll take this opportunity to make your first gift and become a member today.
Today we have a limited-time, urgent opportunity to secure a vast Montana landscape that includes habitat and range critical to threatened grizzly bears and Canada lynx—and where gray wolf packs den and raise pups.
But given the proximity to US Highway 2 and the existing road network, these 114,000 acres could just as easily be accessed for development. Officials estimate that 6,300 new homes could potentially be built on 65,000 acres around the lakes.
If that happens, the loss of habitat for the wildlife of this area, in addition to the loss of free access to public lands, would be devastating for the area.
Only you can decide which vision of Montana will prevail.
Please make the Montana Great Outdoors Project, and our ongoing efforts to connect everyone to the benefits and joys of the outdoors, a reality with your first membership gift today.
Sincerely,
Sabra Lugthart
