March 2022 CPL Report
As of Sunday, March 20, 2022 the Michigan State Police have failed to file a monthly report. This is the first time no monthly report has been provided since January 2016. MCRGO alerted the Michigan State Police Concealed Pistol License Unit about the missing report a week ago and was told there were possible technical issues. At this time, no message appears on the state's website explaining the reason for the missing report. MCRGO will provide an update in early April when the next monthly report is due to be published. MCRGO's concealed pistol license instructors have reported a significant increase in demand over the past four weeks and MCRGO student certifications have reached a six month high.
Whitmer Vetoes Senate Bill 11
Senate Bill 11 was vetoed by the governor on Friday, March 18, 2022. The bill would have required concealed pistol licenses to be processed during a declared emergency. MCRGO strongly supported the bill. We thank Senator Lana Theis (R-Brighton) for sponsoring this bill and shepherding it through both chambers of the Michigan Legislature.
