Friends,

I enjoyed joining Jocko Willink and Echo Charles on the Jocko podcast. During
the podcast, I talked about my military experience and why I have decided to
run for U.S. Senate in Alabama. I recounted the real story of the events in
Mogadishu in 1993 that inspired the movie “Black Hawk Down”.

You can listen to the episode here:

For those who may be unfamiliar – I was a Black Hawk helicopter pilot in the
Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. On October 3rd, 1993, during Special Operations
combat Operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu, Somalia, my helicopter was hit by
an RPG and crashed in the city.

Me and my crew, Ray Frank, Bill Cleveland, and Tommy Field, all badly
injured, fought for our lives as a violent mob approached. Witnessing what was
about to happen from above, two members of the elite Special Operations unit
Delta Force – MSG Gary Gordon and SFC Randy Shughart – volunteered to be
inserted to defend us. They, too, were eventually overcome by the mob.

But eventually, I was captured and held as a POW by Somali General Mohamed
Farrah Aidid.

I only had one mission while in captivity - survive with honor - and I did so.
I was kept in a concrete room, beaten, and shot while held captive. But, I
never lost hope that I’d be freed and see my family again. Thankfully, 11 days
later, I was released unconditionally.

Now, I’m signing up for one more tour of duty to serve our country and state
in the United States Senate. I have fought for our freedom before, and I’ll do
it again. Let’s do this together.

Please give the podcast a listen and chip in any amount that you can to my
campaign.Together, we can take this country back!
