Name: E.J. Wallace. Role: Iowa State Manager What area of Save the Children and SCAN’s work are you most passionate about? Early childhood education What made you want to be an advocate for kids? It wasn’t until my son was born that I truly became a passionate advocate for children’s issues. I was living the early childhood parenting experience, and I couldn’t imagine some kids not having the same opportunities as mine just because of their economic, social or cultural experiences. How do you make a difference for children in your role with SCAN? By identifying, recruiting, training and mobilizing volunteer leaders in Iowa, I get to help people passionate about kids use their voices, experiences and stories to hold lawmakers accountable. Together, we can ensure elected officials recognize just how many people support investing in children. What step would you recommend people who want to make a difference for children take today? Send a message to your lawmakers: No more politics. The time is now to invest in kids.
