Friend,

Not so long ago, Virginians with pre-existing conditions found themselves either paying extraordinarily high healthcare costs or lacking coverage altogether.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) required insurance companies to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions. However, the Trump administration is using taxpayer money to undermine this crucial part of the ACA, putting millions of Virginians at risk.

So I forced a Senate vote on a resolution to block their efforts to severely weaken our healthcare system and undermine protections for Virginians with pre-existing conditions.

Unfortunately, Senate Republicans voted my resolution down. But I refuse to stop fighting. I've met too many families across Virginia who only have healthcare because the ACA told insurance companies they had to provide coverage.

To show my fellow Senators that there's a real cost to votes like this, I'm gathering personal stories from Virginians who have suffered at the hands of our healthcare system. If you or someone you know has a pre-existing condition and/or struggled to gain health care coverage before the Affordable Care Act passed, will you share your story with me?

Or, if you prefer not to share your story, will you consider making a donation instead so I can continue fighting for Virginians' healthcare in the Senate?

Thanks so much,
