Folks, 24 days. When Jason learned of poor conditions and disease outbreaks at an ICE detention center in Aurora, he immediately sought access to the facility to conduct oversight. It took Jason 24 days to get access to the facility. Our immigration system should reflect our nation’s values, not corporate greed. All detention facilities have a basic responsibility to protect the well-being of those in their custody. Yet too often, corporations have cut corners and put lives on the line to benefit their bottom line. It’s inexcusable. Jason is leading a push to end the use of privately operated immigration detention facilities. We can’t wait a moment longer.
After being denied entry three times, Jason got a bill signed into law to allow members of Congress to gain access to ICE detention facilities and bring transparency to a broken system. But the work doesn’t stop there. We need to restore dignity and decency to our immigration system. Ending the use of privately operated immigration detention facilities would be a huge step in the right direction. Thank you, Team Crow
