Hello everyone -

Happy Meat In Day! I wanted to make sure you saw Colorado GOP Chairwoman Kristi Burton Brown's op-ed in the Greeley Tribune ([link removed]) highlighting why
we need to celebrate Meat In Day across Colorado.

Governor Polis and the Democrats continue to work everyday to hurt rural Colorado and make things harder for our hardworking farmers and ranchers. As Chairwoman Brown states, it is critical that the next generation of Coloradans understand where our food comes from and that they respect ALL of Colorado.

Kristi Burton Brown: Don't Forget Why We Celebrate Meat In Day ([link removed])
Greeley Tribune ([link removed]) : Meat In Day started as a protest against Governor Polis and his far-left Administration’s decision to try and tell Coloradans to avoid meat. It has grown into a day to celebrate the hard work and importance of our agriculture and ranching industries. In Colorado, meat is essential.

While Polis and his Administration spend most days poking rural Coloradans in the eye, this is a day for Coloradans to fight back. Agriculture contributes more than $47 billion to Colorado’s economy. There are nearly 39,000 ranches across Colorado. From the Eastern Plains to the Western Slope — and everywhere in between — you can see the importance of our farmers and ranchers.

While Meat In Day gives us an opportunity to get together with friends and families and enjoy some great burgers, bbq brisket, or tender pork – it is also a day for people to think about the impact that government overreach and failed Democrat policies are having on the people who produce our food.

While record-high gas prices have hit all of us, these increases are especially hard on rural Coloradans who drive longer distances to go to town or deliver products. They have to fill up diesel tractors and trucks to ensure we have the food we eat. Senator Sonnenberg told me his farm diesel fuel costs have risen from $1.59 a gallon at the beginning of 2021 to $4.57 a gallon this month.

That’s nearly a $3.00 per gallon increase — in just one year — because of Joe Biden’s anti-energy policies.

Policy matters. Governor Polis and Senator Bennet’s cowardly decision to back Joe Biden’s failed energy and spending policies are having impacts everywhere.
.....

I’m going to continue to celebrate Meat In Day with my kids and family because it’s important for the next generation of Coloradans to understand where our food comes from. It’s important for them to respect the hard work that our farmers and ranchers do every day. It’s important for them to understand that rural Colorado matters just as much as our suburbs or cities.

...

We must never stop celebrating the industries that built our state and sustain our state and citizens today. Happy Meat In Day, Colorado!

Kristi Burton Brown is currently the Chairwoman of the Colorado Republican Party.
