As more and more states legalize marijuana, it’s time that Congress fully supports these efforts.
The Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment, and Expungement (MORE) Act would end federal marijuana prohibition, address the associated consequences of criminalization, and take steps to ensure the legal marketplace is both diverse and inclusive.
Every state should have the ability to create their own legal frameworks to regulate marijuana as they see fit.
When the federal government removes marijuana restrictions and allows states to legalize it, the federal government could collect over $100 billion in tax revenue every year. That’s revenue that will go to innovation, social services, and other underfunded programs.
Plus, legal marijuana has created over 250,000 jobs, and is expected to grow by 250% over ten years. In 2019, legal marijuana sales were over $12 billion dollars.
The House passed the MORE Act in 2020, but Mitch McConnell killed it in the Senate.
Thanks for standing up.
