John,
Honestly, I have to wear this as a badge of honor.
Marsha Blackburn—a US Senator who objectively has one of the absolute worst records when it comes to tech policy and human rights issues—has been actively attacking Fight for the Future. At a recent hearing Blackburn accused us (without evidence) of “inciting violence” because we helped organize peaceful protests in support of net neutrality.
She then “called us out” for organizing a protest outside a cushy fundraiser held by her buddy Senator Roger Wicker where we showed up with a giant banner that read “We’re here to buy a Senator.” And for crowdfunding a billboard condemning Senator Kirsten Sinema for voting against net neutrality protections.
Those are both true, and we’re proud of it :-)
Senator Blackburn was a top proponent of the Internet censorship bills SOPA and PIPA, led the charge for legislation that allowed Internet providers like Comcast and AT&T to spy on your browsing habits for profit, is a lead sponsor of the EARN IT Act, and has taken enormous amounts of cash from Big Telecom companies whose policies she just happens to always support.1,2,3,4
So if Marsha Blackburn is attacking us and spreading lies about Fight for the Future from her podium in Congress, we know that just means we’re doing good work. If you agree, and want to support our work, please donate today.
DONATE
Just keep in mind: Marsha Blackburn will be mad if you donate to us ;-) Do with that information what you will.
Stay mad, Marsha,
