In 2018, Charles became the youngest Black man elected to the Kentucky state legislature in nearly 90 years. During his tenure, Charles fought for common sense gun safety reform, lower prescription drug prices, expanded voting rights, stronger labor unions, and racial justice.
In 2020, Charles was on the front lines organizing for justice for Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and countless more lost to police murder.
More than that, Charles has built a real coalition of working people across the commonwealth of Kentucky, uniting workers from across the political spectrum on the promise of a Kentucky New Deal. |
Meanwhile, Charles’ opponent, Republican Rand Paul has been openly bragging to his supporters about undermining (even profiting off of!) the U.S. COVID response, and compromising public safety in the process.
Here’s the hard truth, John. If more people had gotten behind Charles’ first Senate run as early as Brand New Congress did, he could have won in 2020. Now we have a second chance, and we can’t waste a minute of it.
Charles has captured the heart of Kentucky. If we help him build a strong base of support right now, he can win this race and make history as the first Black man elected to the U.S. Senate from Kentucky.
